First Blog post for the new site

So, we finally have a more professional website now that the business is about to go to an LLC status.   North Star Creations Photography has grown the last few years and it's time to either do it all the way, or back off and go back to hobby work.

A first post, what do I type about..... well, figured I'd introduce you to North Star Creations Photography.  We are a husband and wife team.  It started with me, Sandy, and then Ed became interested in more aspects of it.  Turns out, he's great with posing ideas, detail shots for weddings and he's known as the "Flashman" for our Senior and Family sessions.   He's also the second shooter at most of our weddings.

I started in photography when I was little.  My dad was a detective with the State Patrol.  He had cameras, flashes, lenses.   I started playing, he started teaching.   Somewhere in there, I got caught up with an easy point and shoot digital camera.  They are fine for snapshots, but you lose that control of lighting, depth of field and so many other things - and they were just snapshots.

We invested in a good dslr camera and life changed.  I was back in control.  Then came the investment in the lenses.  Seriously, when one lens costs $2000.....its an investment.  Then came weddings.  You can't do weddings unless you have backup equipment.  Can you imagine getting married and your photographer coming to you and saying....sorry, our camera isn't working, can we use a cell phone.....yikes!    So, a second camera has to be bought.  Well, either stay the same or upgrade.  Yep, upgrade.

So here we are, a full scale photography business.  Many thanks to our clients. They got us here and here's to meeting many new clients.

Oh...wait, this is a photography blog, you want to look at cool pics.....right?    So for the first post, just a few random photos that are favorites of mine!

We do shoots for Boulder Creek Performance K9s.  Its a lot of hard work with fast-paced hikes in the woods.  We are all covered in ticks at the end and sweating our butts off. Well....the dogs usually are treated with Frontline or a similar product, so they don't have near the tick issue like us humans.   After a long day of tracking, we found a nice clean spring for everyone to cool off in.   I caught this shot of one of the trainers chatting with a seasoned tracking K9 and a rookie.

Not necessarily a beautiful photo, but one of the first taken with our aerial drone we got last year to add to our ever growing photography equipment.   That's our back yard, pretty cool seeing things from a different aspect.

Paige is a dear friend and adopted daughter basically.  I watched her grow up from a sweet little girl to the gorgeous young woman she is now.   If I need a model or an assistant, all I have to do is send a quick text and she is on her way!

This will end this first blog post.  We are going to start working on many others and get them scheduled to post.   What to expect from our blog.... well, pictures is one thing.   We have already had some requests for certain content here and there.  Advice for brides, wildlife pics - we got that covered as we love it , documenting trips to great places, photos of area disasters if they happen, fun and crazy shoots, features from some of our favorite photographers, tips for the DIYers on wedding decorations, and who knows.     We want it to be fun.   After all, its about life, have fun and live it!
